About CFM

Thanks for visiting the Checkered Flag Models Web Site! CFM was established in 2010 by Greg Eilers, a career Industrial Designer with 30 plus years of experience. Greg's interest in model building began at age 9, and included plastic models, slot cars and Estes model rockets. His interest was also influenced by time spent with his father a model maker for the Ford Motor Company. Both Greg and his father were members of a local Radio Control Model Airplane club in Michigan for more than 20 years. And it was during this period that Greg's father Lloyd passed along many model building skills and techniques to his son. Through the years, Greg's passion for model building has included Model Rocketry, Plastic models, Model Railroading and various other types of model building in addition to RC aircraft. As an experienced Industrial Designer, Greg has had to apply his model building skills at various times for developing foam core and clay models as well. Greg's design career has included automotive design both interior and exterior, exhibit and product design.

Greg's primary motivation for starting Checkered Flag Models, has been his concern that many of those in younger generations are not learning valuable skills or the creative enjoyment of building things with their hands. Many of the techniques and tips developed by those in the early days of the model building hobby, are being lost for the quick result type kits so prevalent in the hobby industry today. The "Ready to Fly", "Ready to Run", Ready to Float" style models are cheating todays generation the satisfaction of spending time developing the skill to build and fly a model from a true kit. As well as, developing the patience needed to learn the skills to build any type of model. Whether it is a plastic model car, cardboard model rocket or even a highly involved radio control helicopter. So much direct knowledge gained through the model building process over the years is now being lost, due to the video game generation . Future designers, engineers and fabricators are not learning how things work. Or developing critical thinking skills by assembling a model boat, model race car or model airplane. This is the foundational goal of Checkered Flag Models. To develop true model products which teach basic building skills and techniques. Each kit is supplied with complete and thorough instruction packet that include tips on building better models. Examples of these tips can be seen on the model rocket kit page.

Warranty

Checkered Flag Models will replace any defective part, or provide any missing part of any kit if notified within 30 days of original purchase at no cost to the purchaser. Evidence of damage must be provided in way of a photo sent to Greg @ CFM. Checkered Flag Models will allow return of any of it's products for full refund - no questions ask- within 30 days of the original purchase date. Provided the products are returned complete and without damage. Purchaser will assume all shipping cost for all returns. Checkered Flag Models assumes no resposibility for any of it's products quality or performance claims, if assembly is not followed as specified in the provided instructions. Any deviations or modifications void all warranty, quality or performance claims made by Checkered Flag Models. CFM only uses the highest quality of materials for it's products. Concerns or questions should be addressed to Greg @ Checkered Flag Models at the provided Contact CFM link. All kits have been designed and prototypes made prior to release. All claims are made by prior test results, all instructions and recommendation by CFM should be expressly followed to ensure maximum performance.

Payment

Checkered Flag Models is now accepting payment through PayPal. Products can be ordered with a credit card using your Paypal account. However for those who don't have a credit card. CFM will accept payment by personal check or cashiers check. Products will not be shipped until checks clear the bank.
